TurboRanger – Episode #03

TURBO (3.0)
GENERAL OVERVIEW

Please cast your blame entirely onto me for this release delay, as the bulk of the initial work was finished a couple of weeks back, and I was just being a nitpicky editor! Everything’s alright now though, r-right? Hm… Let’s see… The white suits look super cool, don’t you think? They should have kept them around full time as some form of bizarre power up. But, alas, they were too good for this world. So, rest in peace, my beloved white suits! Lehda is also a surprisingly talented flutist… Oh, and the mecha officially makes it’s debut. Not much else to say, so hurry up and download this, share your thoughts! While you’re at it, why not try a new food today hm? c:

SPECIAL THANKS

Hama Youhei ~ By chance, we ended up running across an experienced translator. What are the odds? He was generous enough to TLC a handful of lines that were a bit difficult to hear, such a swell guy right!? He didn’t actually correct anything (thank goodness), but having a second opinion to fall back on was a relief in itself. We haven’t heard from him since, but hey, if you’re out there then I just hope that you know that we appreciate the time that you spent with us!

ADDITIONAL NOTES

– Seemingly, there was a misunderstanding of some sort (oops). It’s actually fairly minor, so it’s not worth any fuss in the big picture of things, but we’ll be going with the “Garzock” spelling variant from this moment on (instead of “Garzok” like in our previous releases). Sorry about that!

– Around [11:43:00], a battle cry is clearly audible. Some thoughts were passed around between ourselves regarding what it could be, and it was looked at from different angles. But, in the end, we decided that it was something like Kamen Rider’s “Toh!”, hence not worth putting a line for.

  1. I’ve never seen this series before so being that this is my first viewing of the show, I’m surprised that no one has finished it before. I love the creativity in the characters and sets. Great job with the subs, by the way. Very clean and easy to read.

    • Right!? The show has really started to grow on me! c: Really though, I’m happy that others like yourself are enjoying Turbo as well, so thanks for dropping by and letting us know! On top of that, you even gave us compliments, and we appreciate it! I’ve watched the next episode already (without translations, but still) and I do believe that you’ll enjoy that one too. ^-^

  2. So far, Turboranger is a nice show. I really enjoyed those 2 first episodes and i’m really excited to learn more about the characters.

I didn’t notice anything wrong with the sub so as always i think you did a good job ^^

  3. Has Shourikan (or whoever the translator is) watched the whole series? I’d reccommend for the translator to do so, so that he’ll be able to translate the foreshadowing properly. That’s not possible in a show that is being subbed as it’s airing, but you guys have an advantage in the fact that this has all been completely aired. So please do get him/her to watch the whole series so that the foreshadowing can be properly translated into the subs.

    • We’re slightly ahead of the release curb behind the scenes (I’m editing episode five as we speak, while Bishi is almost done with episode nine), but I don’t think that any of us have watched the whole series. You know? That’s actually a very good idea, wow, I’m a bit embarrassed to admit that hadn’t even crossed my mind before… D:

I am a bit concerned that watching ahead may end up pushing our releases back even later than they already come though, as spare time is something that we always struggle to find more of (and we feel kinda bad as it is), but I will definitely talk about it with Shourikan. Thanks for letting us know. :X

      • It makes translating certain key lines easier. For example, in Abaranger episode… I want to say 7, Jeanne and Reje have a talk and Reje drops a certain line that foreshadows a plot-point that drops in the early 30s. I had no idea what she was referring to, but THANKFULLY the line was translated correctly. So, yeah, while I got lucky translating Aba blind, it’s still more beneficial to know what you’re doing.

    • I assure you that I’m trying! 😦 But, holy cow, I’ve ended up converting some of these episodes a lot more times than I’d like to admit only to find something wrong with them for some reason. Everything was going smoothly before, but I guess HandBrake just doesn’t like me anymore! I will get them uploaded and available as soon as possible though, sorry for the wait. >___<

  4. I love 80’s sentai and I have been wanting to watch this one for a while. Thank you guys for doing this for all of us toku fans out there that aren’t native Japanese speakers. What other seasons are you considering?

    • You’re welcome! We’re really happy to hear that, and we’ll try our best to finish the series for you! [:

Hmmm… That’s a tough question, just because there are so many possibilities y’know? I think that it’s far too early to give a more definite answer, but Shourikan seemed pretty interested in Dynaman for awhile (at least from my observations). Maybe Denjiman too, since it was actually our runner up before we decided on Turbo together? Personally, I’d enjoy working on Fiveman afterwards, as the whole teacher motif seems rather neat to me. That is, of course, if GUIS chooses not to continue it I mean. :X

Sorry that I couldn’t give you a better reply, but hopefully you’ll be able to to enjoy all of our upcoming releases, thank you so much for the kind words! ^^

    • Sigh. We’re aware. The main factor is that, while we all love him very much, our translator is incredibly busy. Not to mention that all of us are college aged or older. :\ Also, Shourikan works on several other projects as well, including Flashman behind the scenes. If we had him to ourselves, then there would be a lot more Turbo released, but that’s simply not the case.

If it makes you feel any better, we’re planning another series in secret with a second translator, so please wish us luck on that. Otherwise, I’m sorry that all I have to offer you are excuses, we do love fansubbing very much though. zz

      • You don’t have to be sorry. We all know you do you’re best to release the episodes as soon as possible. People always forgot that fansubber have a life…

      • @ Chris

Thank you for being understanding, we still do feel pretty bad about the delays though. It’s not like we’re doing it on purpose, you know? zz

        @ James

I don’t really have an estimate for you… Shourikan is working on a different Super Sentai at the moment, but has promised to get right back to working on Turbo afterwards.

You’re right about those, but this is actually a completely different project! 😛 We do a lot more behind the scenes than we let on, though that doesn’t (or shouldn’t) necessarily excuse our slowpoke pace with Turbo.

      • @ Anonmor (I have no idea why this comment isn’t going below yours, but whatever)

That’s really sweet of you, but we don’t actually need any help with stuff like that. D: If Shourikan wasn’t so busy, then we’d be releasing way more frequently… So, like, having more translators would be a blessing but we’re fine on a technical level. 😛

That being said, if you have something in mind that you’d like to learn how to do anyway, then I wouldn’t mind trying to teach you (or finding somebody else that can). Just lemme know!

I wish that I could tell you, but I’m pretty sure that it’s supposed to be kept a secret for the time being. :X

I ‘can’ tell you that I received two scripts last night to QC and edit, so rest assured that it’s moving along nicely at least.

  5. Don’t worry about taking a long time to finish. As long as you do finish that is. Remember, HaroRangers started subbing Carrangers in 2008, and they’re only now about to finish it.

    • Thanks for being understanding, but hopefully we won’t have to take that long ourselves! 😛

That, and, the longer we take means the lesser the chance of us starting another series. Not that keeping people waiting is fun in the first place. :c

      • An oppourtunity to work with MFC would be so cool, but there’s probably only a one in a million chance of that happening (lol see what I did there?). They’re pretty much self-sufficient, and I doubt that there would be anything that we could do from our end to make it a fair partnership.

Maybe if it was just Kou and her translations, in which case we could provide everything else, but other than that she wouldn’t have much reason to get involved with us. In fact, I doubt that MFC even knows that we exist yet. :X
